This morning marked the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Tukes Valley Primary’s latest addition to the playground: a zip line. Principal April Vonderharr, megaphone in hand, joined students, staff and even the Timberwolves mascot to high-five eager kids gathered near the playground, eager to play.
Mia Kaski, president of the Tukes Valley Parent-Teacher Organization, said it took nearly two years from start to finish to get the playground addition up and running. Former treasurer Ali Blystone confirmed that the PTO raised over $15,000 toward the updated structure. When planning, they surveyed students about their dream playground equipment. Overwhelmingly, the top request was a zip line — a wish the PTO then made a reality.
Among those especially thrilled were fifth graders Jayden Kalian, Elliot Smith and Lukas Bruckelmyer, who, as third graders, helped raise funds by participating in an annual fun run. As Bruckelmyer calculated, "If we all pitch in just one dollar…that’s a whole lot of money!”
Thanks to our community and volunteers who helped make the PVP playground a fun place to play!
Play on, Timberwolves!
